Childhood:— Not much is known about Andrey’s childhood. However, we do know he was born in Gomel, Belarus, on March 8, 1972. Andrey went to a boarding school, which was formerly known as Boarding School at Kolmogorov Physics and Math School.
Early Career:— After completing his school-level education at a boarding school, Andrey joined the School of Physics at Moscow State University. But he eventually got transferred to the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, and he graduated from there.
At the mere age of 21, in 1993, Andrey co-founded a bank, MDM Bank. Within ten years of its establishment, this bank became one of the largest private banks in Russia.
Career:— Andrey’s career began in 1993, after he co-founded the bank; he played the role of Chairman of the Management Board of the bank. Four years later, in 1997, Andrey finally graduated from Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, acquiring a finance and credit degree.
After he graduated that same year, Andrey purchased his partner’s share of the bank and became the whole and sole owner of MDM Bank.
Along with Sergei Popov, Andrey also helped start three other businesses: Eurochem, which makes fertilizer; Suek, which makes coal; and SGK, which exports pipes. In the year 2006, Sergei and Andrey began splitting assets. They completed the process of dividing the assets in 2012.
Currently, Andrey owns a 92.2% stake in all three companies. Andrey also helped start the Pipe and Metallurgic Company, which is Russia’s largest company for making and exporting steel pipes.
